Here is a photo of my 1998 ford f 150 4 4 off road pickup sitting with the mirrors at the garage door opening marked up with measurements.
Garage door height for truck camper.
The exterior height of the basecamp is 8 feet 8 75 inches while the height of a standard garage is either 7 feet or 8 feet.
Most rvs will be able to get into a 16 foot tall garage.
With this kind of height and width you need a garage door that be at least 12 feet in width and 15 feet in height.
A basecamp can however fit in a standard outdoor parking space.
Therefore if your garage is 16 tall you can have up to a 14 tall sectional door.
On average class a have width of around 10 feet and height of around 11 12 feet and with satellite antenna and air conditioning it can be around 13 feet.
To determine what size rv garage door you will need it s important to remember that there must be 2 feet of space between the top of the door and the eave of the garage.
If you opt for a roll up door you would need an extra 1 of clearance above the opening for the canister.
It has a 12 door.
We also have 4 inches to the rear of the garage door.
The size largely depends on the truck sizes that will go into the garage it s better to take measures of the largest possible truck.
This is for a normal home with a normal car truck suv or van parked inside.
Well normal garage doors measure 8 x 7 feet 9 x 7 feet and 10 x 7 feet all around.
Of course i was still nervous when we arrived home and i pulled the truck and camper into the garage.
You want your truck in the garage no matter where you live.
The forest river r pod has an exterior height of 9 feet 8 inches so it cannot fit in a standard residential garage.
We built a new house in 2016 and had the attached garage designed for the camper and truck.
At the time we had a hallmark cuchara pop up.
The height is the major difference between an rv garage door and a standard replacement garage door.
One main consideration on the new camper was the overall height since the truck camper combo needed to fit under the rv portion of our garage.
Typically rv garage doors are 12 or 14 feet wide.
We got the new full size camper in 2016.
The most common commercial garage door sizes have 24 1 height and 32 2 width.
This allows us to barely walk in front and access our kitchen door.
With our rig in the garage we have 15 inches to the front wall.
While this garage was built with this standard size pickup in mind to have ample room you could still easily fit your extended length pickup also.
To say it s a tight fit would be an understatement.
Having said this some class a rv could be more in height and width.
